Volume~$198
IT
Other
YES chance
DescriptionA unique experiment to implement automated security systems has begun in correctional facilities in the Samara Region. Robots codenamed “Gorodovoy” have begun patrolling the facilities’ grounds. Equipped with panoramic cameras and an intelligent behavior analysis system, they are capable of recognizing signs of conflict or violations of prison rules in real time and instantly alerting the shift on duty. The introduction of the robots is intended to reduce the workload on staff and minimize the risk of corruption. In the near future, the Federal Penitentiary Service will evaluate the effectiveness of the Samara pilot program with a view to potentially scaling it up to other regions of the country. Will the agency be able to officially declare the experiment a success by the end of May?
