Description3I/ATLAS is an interstellar object discovered in 2019 using the ATLAS telescope in Hawaii. It became the third known object to enter the Solar System from interstellar space, following ‘Oumuamua and 2I/Borisov. Astronomers are continuing their observations to determine the object’s nature, its trajectory, and possible signs of instability, including fragmentation or anomalous acceleration.
ConditionsThis will be set to "Yes" if, by June 30, 2026, NASA, ESA, or other major astronomical institutions publish confirmed data on the fragmentation or anomalous acceleration of object 3I/ATLAS.
It will be resolved as "No" if no such data is published.
